About Us

Postpartum Progress Inc. (PPI) is a national 501c3 non-profit working to vastly improve awareness of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders like postpartum depression, and to provide peer leadership and support for the women who have them. We are the leading awareness raising, patient advocacy organization for maternal mental health, with unmatched consumer engagement.

We work to create an atmosphere in which women can recognize when they need help for maternal mental illness, feel safe reaching out for that help, and know that a community of tens of thousands of other mothers stands beside them and behind them. To do that, we create innovative programs, partnerships and messaging that connect women to information and treatment and support them throughout recovery to help lessen the burden of disease. Our organization was founded by a survivor of maternal mental illness, our staff are all survivors, and the vast majority of our volunteers are survivors. We believe in and work with the largest single workforce available for deployment in the fight against maternal illness … moms who’ve been there.

Postpartum Progress Inc. was founded in 2011 by Katherine Stone, mom, survivor of postpartum OCD, and the creator of PostpartumProgress.com, the world’s most widely read blog on PPD and all other mental illnesses related to pregnancy and childbirth. Postpartum Progress touches the lives of at least half a million pregnant and new mothers each year through our programs.

SMASH! BLAM! KAPOW!  {That’s us kicking maternal mental illness in the butt. We just can’t stop ourselves.}
